The purpose and objectives of the project:

The old airport terminal can accommodate no more than 350,000 passengers per year, making a new, modern terminal essential for the region’s sustainable growth. The new terminal addresses the issues of overcrowding in the old terminal and insufficient infrastructure for expansion. The airport will be transferred free of charge to local executive bodies. The expected value includes improved transportation accessibility and an 8-12% increase in the Gross Regional Product (GRP) of the Kyzylorda region.

Implementation of the project:

Construction began in February 2023 and was completed in April 2024. The general contractor is consortia of «AVA CONSTRUCTION» LLP и «Elite Insaat» LLP, the project design documentation was developed by “BAITAU ARCHITECTS” LLP, and the architect is GMW MİMARLIK VE DANIŞMANLIK LTD.ŞTİ. The project involved up to 10 employees from the Fund, 115 employees from the general contracting organization, and 131 employees from 20 subcontracting organizations. In total, the project was completed with 675,840 man-hours. Local authorities were involved as partners in the project.

Results:

The airport has been commissioned, and an opening ceremony with the participation of high-ranking state officials is planned soon. The new terminal has increased the airport’s capacity from 350,000 to 2 million passengers per year. Two new destinations, Antalya and Aktau, have been added due to the expansion. More than 100 jobs have been created, and an increase in employment in the region is expected due to a 20-25%** growth in the tourism sector and an improvement in the quality of life for residents.
