Haileybury Almaty and Haileybury Astana are British curriculum private schools in Almaty and Nur-Sultan, where education is built in the best traditions of British education. In the senior school in Almaty, pupils are prepared for Advanced Levels (A levels), and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at Haileybury Astana. Both programs allow graduates to enrol in the best universities in the world.
Haileybury Almaty and Haileybury Astana partner with the university counselling service “World’s TOP Universities”, which helps students enrol in some of the world’s most competitive universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Russell Group universities and the US Ivy League Colleges.
Our recent graduates from Haileybury Almaty have been accepted to some of the best universities all around the globe. In 2020 students achieved the best A-level scores in the history of Haileybury Almaty – an extraordinary achievement in such an extraordinary year. In 2021, the school’s university destinations include, among others, Yale, MIT, Cambridge, and Columbia University.
In 2018, Haileybury Astana opened the IB student centre for Year 12-13 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) students. Our graduates are recognised in both Kazakhstan and world renowned universities. We have received many offers to Russell Group Universities in the UK. Russell Collegiate Group is the British equivalent of the American Ivy League. Due to the rising cost of university tuition, many students have chosen elite universities in Europe, Canada, and Asia over the United States. In these areas, our counsellors have been successful in securing a number of full and partial grants for Haileybury students.. We are extremely proud of the results of our graduates and the universities they enter. All our graduates have successfully completed an IB diploma, scoring an impressive average of 34 points, while the world average is 29.8.
We are also proud of our students who have received 100% grant (tuition and living costs) from universities such as Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), National University of Singapore (NUS), Vassar College, New York, and Bocconi University, Milan, Italy.
Haileybury in Kazakhstan is not a story about expensive private education, but about talented students, and their hard work with the support of highly professional and experienced teachers. Students enter the school based on the results of competitive testing. And gifted Kazakhstanis aged 15-16, who have an impressive list of academic achievements behind them, can apply for scholarships to study in the senior school.
Every year Haileybury Almaty and Haileybury Astana allocate around 10 full scholarships for students entering at Year 12 to study either A-levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
Despite the relatively high cost of education, Haileybury is very much a social project. All proceeds are reinvested in creating better conditions for students – technological, academic and social. The administration also decided to return some of these funds back to Kazakhstani society as a means for educating for free the most talented children who would otherwise not be able to afford such a high quality education, so that they receive the world’s best opportunities for their own development.
In total, since 2013, 147 graduates have graduated from Haileybury Almaty, of whom 58 are scholarship recipients (40%). 108 of these entered universities immediately after graduation.
38 graduates have graduated from Haileybury Astana since 2018, of whom 12 are graduates on either a full or partial scholarship. All graduates received offers from top universities in the UK, USA, Europe, Asia and Canada.
