The purpose and objectives of the project:

Purpose:
Start professional training of Air Astana A320 AC flight crew using a Full Flight Simulator A320-NEO at a brand new Flight Training Center certified by EASA from the second half of 2023.


Problem it aims to solve:
Negative effect on pilot productivity; A significant increase in overall training costs due to travel expenses; Risk of pilots losing the licenses in times of lockdown.


Expected value to the beneficiaries and the society:
Increase in pilot productivity;
Reduction of direct training cost;
Significant reduction of indirect training costs;
Support the A320 fleet expansion and company growth;
Enhancement of training/operational standard;
Support the development of technicians in the country.

Implementation of the project:

Pre-project stage
Proposal at the BoD meeting on the purchase of Flight Simulator on 11/20/2020.


Initiation stage
Project Initiation Documentation submission at the BoD meeting on 05/27/2021. Simulator project was approved to implement.


Implementation stage
Delivery and assembly of an Airbus A320-NEO simulator by L3Harris between August 2021-June 2023;
Turnkey construction of the FTC by Prime Contractor StroyAlyansInvest LLP between November 2021-June 2023;
EASA qualification of Flight Simulation Training Device between June 13-17, 2023.

Post project. Benefits realization plan.
To be reviewed one year after the start of the FTC.

Results:

Commissioned new facility in June 2023;
Obtained EASA EU-A033 FSTD qualification certificate;
Obtained AAK approval of the certificate;
Commencement of the FTC operation on the Airbus A320-NEO simulator from 04/08/2023.
